About the studies

Your studies include both one-to-one and group instruction. You will form an intercultural ensemble with your fellow students and expand your unique artistic portfolio. You will develop new work, intercultural collaborations, performances and your own projects.  

With us, you will learn about themes that are central to a professional global musician, including the following: artistic identity, intercultural collaboration, multidisciplinary approaches, global musicianship, music creation, improvisation, rhythmics, global pedagogy, entrepreneurship, global choir, experimental instrument making, practice-based research and community engagement.

You can tailor your schedule and choose optional courses from any department suited to your own personal interests. You may also choose courses organised by the other two Uniarts Helsinki academies and complete joint studies, which are available to all students.

Teachers

The teachers on the programme are experts employed by the Sibelius Academy as well as visiting teacher and artists.

Doctoral studies

After graduating with a master’s degree, you can apply for doctoral studies in music and specialise in research-oriented, artistic or applied doctoral studies.
