MAGICS

MAGICS is a joint effort of six Finnish universities – Aalto University, Tampere University, University of the Arts Helsinki, University of Lapland, Turku University of Applied Sciences, and University of Jyväskylä – to form a network of infrastructures to accelerate research into human experience in the digital world.

Introduction

Central to MAGICS in Uniarts is a methodology-driven approach to art and artistic research that underpins all activities. This methodology not only guides the development of tools and practices but also serves as a resource for the broader community. It is openly shared and published through platforms like Taju and Research Catalogue, ensuring transparency and accessibility.  

MAGICS fosters inter-academy collaboration, aiming to bring the distinctive characteristics of artistic practices visible also within the multidisciplinary collaboration of the MAGICS consortium, and to develop new research and artistic approaches that are grounded in emerging technologies. Our approach to technology is reflective and grounded in ethical principles, emphasizing perceptual diversity and accessibility.  

MAGICS aims to connect students, researchers, and educators interested in digital interaction in the arts by enabling creative possibilities through emerging tools and collaborative environments.
