ArsADAPT creates new approaches to music studies and musician's work by integrating the sustainable future agenda and related research into artistic work.

Presentation

ArsADAPT creates new approaches to music studies and musician’s work by integrating the sustainable future agenda and related research into artistic work. As part of the project, a new study module “Artists of a sustainable future” will be implemented during the academic year 2022–2023 in cooperation with the different departments of the Sibelius Academy (jazz, folk music, music technology, global music) and the MuTri doctoral school. In addition to master’s and doctoral students, teachers committed to the development of higher education pedagogy and researchers from ADAPT and CERADA participate in the course work.

The participants deal with the themes of sustainability change, e.g., human experience in the transition to sustainability, the relationship between humans and the environment/nature, uncertain future, and ecological crises. At the final event of the project on May 23, 2023, the products of the course will be presented while testing new sustainable performance practices that will reach new audiences and explore the perspectives of the past and future.
